After the Nationals lost 1-2 last Thursday to Kuwait in the home leg of their Asian World Cup qualifying match, the Philippine Azkals will be flying to Nepal in April for the 2012 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Challenge Cup tournament. The Philippine Azkals fell in a 0-3 defeat to Middle East powerhouse Kuwait National Football team in the opening leg of their second round World Cup Qualifying match. Yousef Nasser of Kuwait scored on the 17th minute of the first half and another scores in second half from Musaed Neda of Kuwait in the 65thminute and Fahed Al-Ibrahim in the 85th minute of the match. Azkals lose again to Bahrain Team

The Philippine Azkals had lost again to Bahrain for their second round friendly match with a score of 3-1. Chieffy Caligdong the only Filipino who had made a goal against Bahrain in their first round friendly match, is made another goal in the first quarter of the second round, but not enough to beat the Under-23 Olympic team of Bahrain. Philippine Azkals lost in their first friendly match against the Bahrain Team at the National Stadium in Rifa. The Philippine Azkals lost by 1 goal, with a final score at 2-1 in favor of the Bahrain U-23 National Olympic Team. The Azkals was able to draw the Bahrainis after the end of the first half with a spectacular goal from local Filipino player Chieffy Caligdong but the Bahrain was able to get past the Azkals defense once more and bringing the score to 2-1 for Bahrain.
